Atmospheric Case 03: Tumbling Brick, Dragless with Aerodynamic Damping
Atmospheric scenario 3 tests a dragless tumbling brick (CD = 0.0) falling from an altitude of 30,000 ft with an initial rotation rate of [9.995821927, 20, 30] deg/s while being affected by aerodynamic damping.
Constants and Models
This scenario uses a brick body model with fixed inertias and aerodynamic coefficients unless otherwise specified in the scenario. The original details of the model can be found here. The 1976 STD atmosphere model defines atmospheric properties at various altitudes, specified here. The brick's source of gravity is the J2 gravity model, specified here. The geodesy model used for this scenario is the WGS-84 rotating model, specified here.
